A solution to the same-sex marriage debate

The issue of same-sex marriage is back on the front burner this week, courtesy of a Federal judge’s ruling this week that struck down California’s Proposition 8, which would have outlawed the practice, at least in California.

There was an interesting column on The Huffington Post today with a reasonable solution — get government out of the marriage business.

Gee, I wish I had thought of that. Oops, maybe I did.

  1. I agree that the government needs get out of the marriage business. It really all comes down to money. Instead of treating us an individuals, they divide us up into groups for the purpose of taxation and entitlements. And how ridiculous is it that anyone should have to get the government’s permission to marry? Shouldn’t that be up to individuals, their families, and/or church?

  2. That’s a great idea, but I don’t see republicans bowing out gracefully.

  3. Let everyone marry….I am good with that. It’ll make bigamy legal…but it’ll make more interesting TV…Springer.
